Is it possible to distinguish between the two on a covered rudder?

If an aircraft has a 4130 rudder that has been installed, but not in the logbooks (lost, poorly kept, etc.), how will this be handled?

My Legend AL3 isn't effected, but a '41 J5 I have access to will be.

Thanks,
Daryl
