I don't do students any more. IACRA is way down my list of reasons. My reasons start with what is called ACS (not smart enough to teach 1400 discrete tidbits on any subject), and continue through the idea that everybody flunks the first time.

But now and then I have to struggle with IACRA. The feds have decided that an eight word password is not secure enough to keep the Russians out, so now it is twelve! My password now contains a note of derision.

Worse - the program doesn't work like, say, Amazon or a forum. One has to undo "pop-up" protection to get it to work. And rather than tell you that up-front, they keep a very knowledgable guy on the phone 24 hours a day to help you!

And - and! In their wisdom, we cannot just grab a DPE and do a quick re-check. The DPE has to get permission from OKC during business hours to do a flight check.

And we wonder why folks are dropping out of aviation.

Grumble.
