I just removed the fork in one of my sealed struts in order to comply with the AD (by replacing the fork). Unbelievably tight backing the thing out. Fought me every turn despite the threads looking pristine. Tried to turn a new fork in and only get five turns before I can’t turn it anymore. This was with the lube on it as it came from univair. Got to thinking the lube was sealing the threads and preventing air from escaping, so I wiped everything off and tried again, this time I got a few more turns. I am thinking this isn’t going to work because if I’m right the air compression must be enormous. Is this what’s going on? Solution?
