A buddy has an 85 HP Chief - enclosed (pressure) cowl. He has been reporting extremely high oil temps and low pressures.

A while back there was a discussion of plugging something on the forward end of an O-200 camshaft. Anybody remember that discussion - maybe a link?

The reports are not crystal clear - new bearings and Millenium cylinders 350 hours ago, and the problems did not (apparently) start until they installed a starter. They have since overhauled the (almost new) cylinders, and have redone all the baffles.

It is possible that they cut the pilot shaft the easy way, and shards of metal got under the relief valve - but I have never heard of a small Continental running at the temperatures these guys are reporting.

Would a leak in the oil pressure system result in high oil temps?
