I just started covering my tail feathers today. I really enjoyed it, its a nice change from sanding, cleaning and painting all day. This is my first cover job and I am using the polyfiber process.

I would like to use the dollar patches over the stitching on the tail feathers just like it came out the factory with. I also like the clean look. However, the polyfiber STC states that you have to use tapes any place you have fabric over a structure. I have seen guys use the patches on super cubs with the polyfiber system and I didn't see any problems. The tapes might add a little more "structure" to the covering compared to the patches but I'm not sure?

I need to talk to my IA tomorrow and see what he thinks. Even if he is OK with it I don't want it to affect the value of the airplane down the road if I want to sell it to someone that is familiar with the polyfiber stc.

What do you guys think?

MR
