Hey Y'all,
I finally got my retirement orders after 36 years of military service so I'm moving into building the Cub. I just finished tack welding a fuselage started by someone else and ended up taking most of it apart to dimensionally correct it and make it less lopsided. So, a local guy gives me a bunch of A65 parts. Enough to put 1 engine together and spare cylinders. There is a usable flanged crank so I have a good basis to build a better A65/A75.
My plan is to have the A65 pistons thermal coated on the crown to keep the combustion heat in the chamber and out of the piston and oil. I know about drilled rods and the stellite faced exhaust valves. The question is, what other tricks should I consider to make for a reliable 75hp? Will the A65 pistons and wrist pins survive the extra 250rpm? I did not get a carb or mags in the stash so I am considering E-mags and the Aero-injector. Any and all thoughts are appreciated. Please no responses like find a C85 unless you have one that you want to trade for a stash of A65 parts.
Thanks, Dana LaBounty
