Fellow Cub friends. When shopping for a Cub how much value/weight should be given to the Engine TT vs the TSMO numbers?

Is there a number where the TT on a C-65 engine should be a major factor in evaluating the reliability of the engine? Does it mater how many actual hours are on an engine if the TSMO is low? What about an engine that has been sitting for 10 plus years since a major overhaul? Wouldn't there be the possibility of internal rust? What numbers would be most valuable in determining the reliability of an engine?

I have looked at the old continental videos detailing the process of doing a complete major that included filling out a lengthy spreadsheet of tolerance checks on every moving surface in the engine. Are these tolerance checks done on these engines at all major overhauls and if so are the reports provided to the owner for their records? Seems like the only numbers that are reported are the compression numbers. Is there any way to evaluate the reliability of an engine other than flying it and getting to know it? Would it be reasonable to ask to see the 337 forms for a Major Overhaul? Joe B
