Folks, two quick questions about ELT installation (121.5):

1.) We began to run the ELT antenna coax cable yesterday (should have done it earlier) and it is too short. I can pick up an extension that will work at Radio Shack or can install the antenna inside the fuselage at the triangular area just behind and to the right of the aft seat without too much difficulty. In many ways this would be the easiest and is legal per the ELT Instruction Manual, but I want to know whether to place it there or go ahead and put it up on the wing root fairing?

2.) Also, the ELT has a remote switch that is normally installed on the instrument panel which would be difficult on a J-3 (or will it?). I'm thinking of installing it in the aft edge of the baggage pit lid as it is not very big and weighs virtually nothing. It should not be any hinderance in using the baggage pit.

Any thoughts?
