Hi Everyone

Please see attached pic.

I was busy completing my annual earlier today on my 39' J3 Cub, when I noticed whilst installing the lower spark plug on cylinder #3 that the mating surface that the actual plug sits on was cracked.

I've never noticed this before, and from the photo you can see that the crack has previously been dealt with or halted by ''stop-drilling''.

I haven't checked the engine log books to see if this ''repair'' has been noted.

Anyway, I'd like to know what everyone thinks?

Do I need a new cylinder?

Is this ''stop-drilling'' an appropriate way to fix this crack? I wouldn't think so.

How should I deal with this?

If I need to buy a new cylinder, where is the best place to get one?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers
Ivan
