Ok Cub Brain Trust. Let’s see what you got.
I have a C85-12 with a strange case. It has a flat un-machined boss on top (see image). And after purchasing a new lifting eye (P/N 24879) to replace my abused existing one (see image), I realize that the case bolt spacing is different. What do I have here and what is the pad for?
The story from the logs was this engine started life as a C75-12 and was changed to a C85-12 in the late 1940’s.
The knowledgeable people around me say the same thing, that they read somewhere about this question and nobody can remember the answer.
Any help would be appreciated.
