I'm looking at a J5A with spruce spars. Sounds like a full restoration was done 20 years ago and the plane has been hangared since. As far as I could tell the rear spar was replaced at the time of restoration. Is there a way to get a feel for the condition of the wood-- to get a feel for the presence of dry rot. Any help would be appreciated.
