My old yellow brick ELT has gone west. I just bought a new AmeriKing 450 ELT and am trying to visualize how best to install it in my L-4. The local avionics shop suggested that I put it inside, as I am trying to maintain as authentic an appearance as I can. He suggested that I construct a ground plate from sheet aluminum and put it under the observer's desk behind the back seat and mount the antenna horizontally under it by means of an "L" fixture. Horizontally!

I am not really concerned with reliability, as ELT's are horribly unreliable to begin with, just something to fill in the squares and make it legal to fly. Does anybody have any suggestions about how best to conceal the ELT? I know the remote has to be accessible to the pilot in flight, and I plan to stick that behind the rear seat on the edge of the desk. Thanks.
