This is a question for people with lots of experience in GA. Would a battery powered starter be a safeguard at altitude when you have done something to kill the engine ? I killed my engine only once but it was over an airport so I landed. When the mission is to do maneuvers with lots of throttle changes I do it with altitude over an airport. Are there times when the engine quits over unfriendly surfaces that might be saved with a restart attempt ? Fuel mismanagement an example ? Other ? How often, in other aircraft, is the starter engaged while in the air ?
