There are plenty of calculators on line for level turn radius. Some years ago I did my own calculation and then flew it. I wanted to know how much bank I could use to fly a level turn without running out of power...and to fly faster than stall of course. Flew solo and my weight was 1027 lb , stock C85, Mac 71x44. 60 mph with wing cabane tubes on the horizon, which is 63.5 degrees bank. I flew a full 360 degrees just to see if all conditions held. It was not comfortable. Now, all the literature says a Chandelle is your tightest turn . But , it would sure be nice to compare that to the constant banked turn that I know I can do. The mathematics of a Chandelle is beyond my ability ...I was a poor student of Calculus. Squeeked by one year of it. Anyone out there want to give it a try ?? Thanks.
