Cabin Heat Airbox

Starting to finish up the fuselage on a J-3/L-4 and I’ve got a question.....the cabin airbox is mounted. When “Off” is selected, it dumps the hot air straight up toward the mags. Is that a issue or should it be ducted laterally? There’s a lot of heat in the area from the stacks, muffler, etc. and this air is diluted but still plenty warm. Any ideas?
