I used the tool to tighten up the original flare. Then I reset the tool towards the outer edge and flared a fresh crimp.
I’ll do a run up tomorrow. I’m expecting good results.
I did notice a bit of surface corrosion on the push rod and valve cover. They cleaned up well with green Scott Brite.
I tied on some strips of T-shirt cloth. One strip on the push rod tube that I re-flared and two strips on push rod tubes that I thought might have a slight seep. I did a ground run up and the reflared tube is bone dry. I’m going to run it for one flight and see if any of the T-shirt strips any oil. Otherwise, I’m extremely satisfied.
