I had just finished reading the story. Wow is all that I can say. I have flown in Ben's Cub a few times when I was building time to get my ticket at 8A7...Twin lakes. I remeber chasing some cows in a riverside pasture. We even flew around a local R/C model field to see the strange sight from the air. I last had seen him again about 4 years ago at a fly-in at KZEF....Elkin Muni. He told me that he had sold the Cub and was going to retire from flying due to his ailing eyesight. I was very happy to see him again and revisit the exciting times of me getting to fly solo. Thanks for the post. It is a great story that he never told me. For those who were in the area around 1983 you could also meet/see Jeff Michaels when he had the T-6. He had a few stories to be told of the antics and that plane. Sorry for the ramble....I guess that is what happens. Remebering flying at its best.
