While I've tried being an optimist about this, I'm beginning to think it is doomed.

AOPA and EAA have both proven to be toothless tigers (or perhaps ball-less) in this undertaking. Owwww.....the AOPA President sends a "STONGLY WORDED LETTER." That has proven to work so well in the past. The DOT/FAA is never going to relent. The only remaining option is getting the General Aviation Pilot Protection Act passed and I don't hold much faith in that happening either.
