I have a J3 65 with now electric and am using a Icom A24 handeld. Reception is pretty good but transmission is horrible. I think I need a better antenna. The one in it now is the type that is inside the fuselage and like an X attached to the tubes. I think I need a ground plane and better antenna. Anyone know what I should do? Last night is was 5 miles from the tower before they could hear me.
