I buried this over on Super Cub dot org, and then got so many thoughtful responses I got feelings of guilt for thread hijacking.

I turned down a test flight in a dog-eared 170 yesterday. Owner is a really nice guy, and he had hired an IA who works out of his pickup truck. The IA did a lot of work, and invoiced 12 hours for logbook and AD evaluation, but made no logbook entries, and as far as I can tell, signed nothing.

He did give the owner a statement of annual inspection with his name and #.

Apparently he wanted a test flight before signing.

Dave dga of course had some "on point" comments, and if this group is interested I am sure he won't mind me copying them here.

Any opinions here? You guys make me smarter every day.
