Figured I'd look for a bit of input from members before I proceed with this altimeter. I bought this Kollsman 22-980 6 o'clock knob altimeter off of ebay maybe a year ago as I wanted the 6 o'clock position for the panel and I wanted a sensitive altimeter. It was listed as NOS (I have no way to confirm that) and the seller was originally trying to get $750+ for it. After several messages and "enlightening of the seller" I bought it for $250, which I figured was fair enough. I intended to send it back to Keystone at some point for a new Cub face. Long story short, I've just received an overhauled 7 o'clock Kollsman Cub faced altimeter that I'll be putting in the Cub along with an AS I purchased with it. So I now have this 6 o'clock knob Kollsman and will be selling it. It came with a calibration card from 1996 and has the correct serial # on it. The altimeter is packaged such that it would make sense that it and the calibration card have been sitting since the last calibration, but I have no paperwork to back that up. So...is it worth $250 as it sits or should I take it to Aerotronics here in Billings (very reputable shop) and spend the $150 for a current yellow tag and calibration...at which point I have a $400 altimeter for sale. Keystone will overhaul it and put a Cub face on it for $385...but then I have a $635 altimeter for sale. I've considered that, but any buyer could do that if they wanted. My gut tells me it needs only a new Cub screened face, but that's just my gut speaking to me (or the chili dog from lunch). Appreciate any insight...Thoughts???
