So, I've been looking at possibly going for my PPL (I just have a sport pilot license at the moment) since I have a little extra free time these days. Although time may be in abundance, money is not. The Luscombes are looking quite attractive with an average cruise speed of 100mph and long range fuel (wing tanks vs fuselage tank) with a burn rate about equal with the Cub. You could buy 2 Luscombes with the price of a decent Cub. And....you could probably buy 3 Cessna 150s now with the price of a single Cub. I recently visited with a friend and he offered me his C150 for 9k. I also checked Barnstorners and ASKING prices are 10-15K. Bet you can get a good one in the single digits. C150s are decent for short cross country jaunts for the weekend. Could've used one to visit my folks over Thanksgiving instead of driving 5hr+ one way. Might be nice to get one in my stable in the not so distant future.
