As I've been doing the annual I've noticed an anomaly with our air box, its missing a bracket that I guess the previous owners didn't feel was needed. I noticed the 2 holes just aft of the air filter that would allow unfiltered air in and after looking at the IPL (illustrated parts list) I found that there is suppose to be a bracket attached. Finding the part at Wag-Aero I notice it said required to eliminate air box cracking. http://store.wagaero.com/product_info.php?products_id=1734

My only question for those with more experience with the J3 is/ was there a modification eliminating this bracket, just wondering why it is missing? We obviously been operating fine the past 2 years and even a couple IAs missed it. But in the end I want it to be right and safe.

Thanks for any comments,
Stan
