Hello Cubbers - you know the story: the Cub-owning aviator has died, and the widow has a bunch of accumulated treasure/crap to dispose of. Well, I’m helping where I can, but I’m not a Cub expert. Mind if I ask you all some questions?

First, on the ‘39 J3, the struts were changed to Univair back in the 90’s. The probably original struts are still in the barn, and they look straight and undamaged, but are they useful to anyone? Should they be scrapped?

Next, the owner and his dad accumulated lots of J4’s over the years, mostly with Lycoming power. The airplanes are all gone now (all flying, by the way) but there are lots of engines and parts. Is there any demand for O-145’s these days? I have been in touch with Hackenberg Aviation, and there is some interest in the stuff we have, but I’d have to drive it all to Pennsylvania. I’d rather have someone clear out the lot from the hangar at Westfield, Mass.

Last, I have a tentative offer for the J3L-65, but if that bombs, I’ll put the airplane in the sale forum.
