hi all, recently had to repair the down stack coming from my a-65 exhaust. welded on new plain carbon steel pipe/mild steel.

i cut the end perpendicular to the pipe the way it was before the repair. saw a pic recently of a like aircraft where it looked like a 45 degree cut was used so that the long side was in front to the airstream. looks like the intention was to blank the ram air and help the exhaust gases escape the pipe.

any thoughts about what's best? does the 45 degree cut or any other degree besides 90 help?? my engine has always run fine with the perpendicular cut. my pipe exits the cowl heading slightly aft already. thanks.
